Training and Professional Development

Barringtons provides an intensive training schedule for its professional staff that facilitates technical and practical growth for staff at all levels of experience.

CA Program

At Barringtons, we actively encourage all professional staff to undertake the CA Program and provide financial assistance to those that do.  This assistance includes approved study material, module fees (paid up front by the firm) and approved study courses.  Two days’ paid study leave is allowed for all modules.  Directors and Managers are actively involved in assisting with problems and training in the CA Program, including arranging group sessions and planning relevant staff training.  Directors, Managers and staff may also be group leaders for CA sessions.

  • Businesses
  • Structures
  • Loans
  • Goods and Services Tax
  • Capital Gains Tax.
  • Internal Training – Seminar Style

A national presenter provides professional development training once a month to all professional staff from graduates level to Directors.  This training provides a national perspective and highlights issues that tax professionals should be aware of in the ever changing tax environment.

Workshop Style

Once a month, we engage an external Perth based tax specialist to facilitate an interactive practical training workshop for Professional Staff who have not yet completed their Chartered Accounting qualifications.  Sessions focus on the practical application of specific tax issues in an understandable, interactive forum.

Boardroom Style Training

We also run additional practical weekly sessions, which are specifically targeted at new graduates to assist in developing communication and presentation skills.

Taxation Institute of Australia

Once graduates have gained two years’ experience, they then have the option to enrol in the Applied Tax Unit offered by the Taxation Institute.  This course is designed to build comprehensive technical skills that provide expertise to deal with complex tax issues.

Staff then have the option to enrol in the Advanced Tax Course when they achieve five years’ experience.  This course is a hands–on practical course designed to develop high level planning and advisory skills through an analysis of various technical challenges in a variety of specialist areas.
